I'm sure all artists occasionally have a hard time getting to the easel sometimes...it's been one of those times the last 2 weeks...OVER! Back at it...had to lecture myself a bit. Beginning a new oils class tomorrow with Susan Tolliver and am really looking forward to it..different techniques, different style. Whatever it takes to get you motivated, do it! Sign up for a show, take classes, talk with other artists...I recently was accepted into juried show in Crescent Hill for July 3 & 4! Hooray! First two day show...
Here are a few paintings I've been working on. Comments welcomed! Ok...hmm.. feature not working right now but you can view recent paintings at dailypaintworks.com/artists/cherylbuhrman

Social media and Networking
Derby Week is upon us here in Louisville! Not a lot of time to paint...but have camera will travel!! Looking forward to getting some unforgettable shots for future reference. Once again, thank you Artebella for featuring me...what a great site!!! My blog has seen more activity in the last two days than the last two months. I know I'm taking this in baby steps, but I can't say enough about how important social media is to us artists...It can take you all over the globe! I'm still trying to do a lot of networking...Didn't have too much luck going to our local art shops with my Kentucky Derby cards...seems they all have their sources already! BUT, onward and upward! I'm not giving up!!! New territory the week after Derby...NULU district? hmmmm
Article published by Artebella~ thank you!!!!
When painter Cheryl Buhrman states that she appreciates the spontaneity she achieves with acrylic paint, it is easy to see the evidence in the loose brushwork in her most recent paintings. After years working with other mediums, primarily oils, this shift has resulted in work that seems fresh and exploratory.
In her artist’s statement, Buhrman explains: “Nature and mans relationship with his individual environment is what inspires me. I get lost in my own little world when painting a subject trying to depict ‘that special’ emotional quality I want to get across. My goal is to make the viewer ‘be there’" Such immediacy can be found in Buhrman’s study of a vintage automobile; the marks expressing vigorous energy and a suggestion of emotion that speaks to the period character of the vehicle.
Buhrman’s work will be featured in the fall 2016 Louisville Artisans Guild Holiday Showcase. In 2015 she was awarded 2nd Place in the American Pharaoh art contest presented by Triple Crown Dentistry, and has taught art for approximately seven years in Virginia and Kentucky on elementary and secondary levels.

Well, I'm up to more shenanigans! As a test program I had some notecards printed of my original art. The cards are 5.5" x4.25" and are professionally printed on white matte card stock. There are five cards with envelopes and are selling for $15 a pack with a $4 shipping and handling in the U.S. If interested leave me a comment or email at cherylbuhrman@gmail.com
Right now there are only 3 to choose from;however, if you go to dailypaintworks.com you can select the painting you want on the front of the card if you order in multiples of 25

While trying to get submerged in oil painting, I opened the acrylic box again and started a series titled The Gold Rush. All paintings are 2"x2", mounted on a heavy white Carson paper. They are one of a kind! I used acrylic and chopped metal sheets and flakes and a carbon black mister. It was so much fun, even though the flakes had to be applied with tweezers because they stuck to my fingers! Upon delivery to your home, they are ready to be placed in a frame and hung. Enjoy!
